Peter Tijhof

I photograph what most people walk past.

My work is journalistic — real places, real light, observed as I find them and never staged. I'm drawn to the overlooked and the enduring: weathered architecture, empty roads, the quiet geometry of things people build and leave behind. It has been shot in many places, and over many years — including 790 kilometres on foot along the Camino de Santiago.

Alongside the photography, I collect. Sculptural Dutch glass, mid-century pieces from across Europe, Asia and Australia, and ceramics with weight and presence — objects chosen for honest form and material, the same qualities I look for through the lens.

My eye comes from a broad and extensive international career in design. It has always been about presence: the image or object which changes how a room feels.

Every print is my own — shot, edited, signed and dated by me, and produced in Brisbane on archival fine art paper.

Coming soon: my collection of mid-century modern glass and collectibles, sourced from ateliers, auction houses and antique shops across Europe.

Thank you for looking.
